Yecla Wine

The Yecla denomination of origin, located in the north of Murcia, with vineyards very close to those of the Jumilla and Alicante DOs, has a harsh climate. Although it is near the Mediterranean, it has very hot summers and extremely cold winters. The annual hours of sunshine the vineyards get is more than 3,000, with very little rain.

Yecla is known for its red wines, ruby-garnet red in colour, soft and warm in the mouth, with low acidity and a high alcohol content which can get to 16 º. Pink and white wines are also produced in this denomination of origin.

The most important variety in the DO Yecla is the red grape Monastrell, occupying 80% of the vineyard. The remaining space is shared equally by the red strain Garnacha and the white ones, Merseguera and Verdil.
